Indifun Radio — including the indifun.net website and the Indifun Radio mobile app — is owned and operated by Uday Technovations (udaytechnovations.com). In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" refer to Uday Technovations.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information to provide better services to all our users. The types of information we collect include:
- IP addresses for request rate limiting and abuse prevention (for requests made in our Discord server, your Discord user ID instead)
- Song request history and preferences
- Names and dedication messages voluntarily submitted with song requests (optional)
- Contact form submissions
- Listening statistics (anonymous, aggregate)
- Song likes (♥): when you like a song on our website, your browser keeps a random anonymous ID (stored in your browser's local storage) and we store that ID with the song you liked, so you can unlike it again and each song's total counts each person once. It is not linked to your name, email or IP address. The totals per song are shown publicly. Clearing your browser's site data removes the ID from your browser.
- Song suggestions: when you ask us to add a song to the library, we store what you type in that form (the song, film, singer, link and note, and your name if you give one) so we can find the song, together with your IP address, which we use only to prevent abuse. None of it is shown publicly.
- Website listening time: while the radio is playing on our website, your browser sends a short signal about once a minute containing the same anonymous ID as for likes and whether the radio is playing. We use it to add up how long that browser has listened, per day. It records duration only — never what you listened to.
Accounts are optional: you can listen, request and like songs without one. We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, precise location, or any other personal information unless you voluntarily provide it (for example, when you create an account, in a dedication, a song suggestion or the contact form).
Indifun accounts (optional): if you create an account on our website, we store the username you choose, your email address and your password — the password only in a scrambled one-way form (a "hash") that cannot be turned back into the password. We use your email address only to send you a password-reset link when you ask for one, and to reply if you contact us; it is never shown to anyone. Your username is not shown publicly. While you are signed in, your browser keeps a sign-in cookie (see Section 8). When you sign in, the anonymous ID of that browser (or, in a future version of our app, of that phone) is linked to your account, so the listening time and likes recorded under it — including from before you joined — appear together in your account. Signing out gives that browser a fresh anonymous ID, so whoever uses it next does not add to your account. Song suggestions you send while signed in are linked to your account so you can see whether the song has been added, and song requests you make on the website while signed in are linked to it so you can see them and their status. The badges you earn (for listening, streaks, the songs you like and the songs you help add to the library) are stored with your account, with the date each was earned; they are shown only to you. Deleting your account removes these links and your badges; the requests and suggestions themselves stay, without your account. You can change your email and password, sign out on all your devices, or delete your account at any time from your account page.
Requests from our Discord server: when you request a song with the Indifun Radio bot in our Discord server, we store your Discord user ID with the request in place of an IP address. We use it for the same rate limiting and abuse prevention, and so the bot can mention you in Discord when your song goes on air. If you add a dedication, it is shown with your Discord server name, or the name you choose, and is public like any other dedication (see Section 4).
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain our service
- Prevent abuse and spam
- Improve user experience
- Respond to user requests
- Analyze service usage patterns
3. The Indifun Radio Mobile App
This section applies to the Indifun Radio app for Android, available on Google Play.
- No accounts, no sign-up: the app does not require registration and does not collect personal information.
- Local-only preferences: your liked songs and app settings are stored only on your device. They are never uploaded to our servers, and they are deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its data.
- Song requests: when you submit a song request, the request — along with any optional name and dedication message you enter — is sent to our servers, together with your IP address for rate limiting (see Section 1).
- Album artwork: the app queries the Apple iTunes Search API to display album artwork. These queries contain only song metadata (title, artist, album) — never any information about you or your device.
- Anonymous device ID: the app generates a random identifier (a UUID) stored on your device. It is not linked to your name, email, phone number, or any account, and cannot by itself identify you. We use it only to count app installs, measure listening time, and avoid double-counting the same device.
- Listening time: while the app is playing, it sends a periodic signal (about once a minute) containing only the anonymous device ID above and whether audio is currently playing. Our server uses this to add up how long that device has listened, so the app can show you your own listening time. It records duration only — never what you listened to, and never anything that identifies you. If you uninstall the app this figure is reset, unless Android restores your app data from its backup.
- Push notifications: if you allow notifications, the app registers a push token with our servers so we can send occasional updates about the station (such as new features or announcements). The token is associated only with the anonymous device ID above. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings, or decline the permission when first asked.
- Device model information: the app reports your device's brand, model, Android version and app version (for example "OnePlus, ONEPLUS A5000, Android 16") so we can see which phones our listeners use and test the app on them. We also record the country your device connects from, derived from your IP address at first contact — the app's own records store only the two-letter country code, never your IP. This is aggregate statistical information only. We do not collect your IMEI, device serial number, phone number, advertising ID, or any other hardware identifier, and none of this information can identify you personally.
- No advertising or analytics SDKs: the app contains no third-party advertising or analytics libraries.
- App permissions: the app requests Internet access (to stream the radio), foreground-service / wake-lock permissions (to keep music playing while your screen is off or you use other apps), and — optionally — notification permission (to send you station updates; you can decline or revoke this at any time). It does not request access to your contacts, camera, microphone, location, or files.
4. Public Content — Dedications
Names and dedication messages submitted with song requests may be displayed publicly — on air, on our website's dedication wall, in the app, and in our Discord server — alongside the requested song. Do not include personal information you do not want made public. To have a dedication removed, contact us (see Section 12).
5. Information Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.
6. Data Security
We implement appropriate security measures to protect your data.
7. Data Retention & Deletion
Song request logs and listening statistics are kept for service operation and historical charts. IP addresses are used for rate limiting and abuse prevention. Anonymous app device data (the device ID, aggregate listening time, and push token described in Section 3) is retained while the app is installed and is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its data. An Indifun account is kept until you delete it. Deleting your account (from your account page) permanently removes your username, email address, password, sign-ins and badges, and the links between your account and your browsers or phones; the listening time and likes that were recorded under anonymous IDs stay in the station's totals, no longer linked to anyone, and song suggestions you sent stay without your account. If you mistyped your email when you joined, contact us and we will correct it. You may request deletion of any personal information you have submitted (such as a name or dedication) by contacting us at the address in Section 12, and we will action it within a reasonable timeframe.
8. Cookies and Tracking
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to enhance your browsing experience and remember your preferences. We use the following third-party services on the website, each of which may set its own cookies and is governed by its own privacy policy:
- Google Analytics — anonymous usage statistics
- StatCounter — anonymous visit counting
- Google AdSense — advertising; Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits. You can opt out of personalised advertising via Google Ads Settings.
If you sign in to an Indifun account, our website also sets its own sign-in cookie (indifun_sid). It holds a random code that keeps you signed in for up to 90 days, is sent only to indifun.net, and cannot be read by scripts on the page. It is needed for signing in and is removed when you sign out. The anonymous ID used for likes and listening time is kept in your browser's local storage, not in a cookie.
The mobile app does not use cookies or any tracking technologies.
9. Content Providers, Advertisers, Partners and Third-Party Services
Our service may contain links to third-party websites which have separate privacy policies. We are not responsible for the data collection practices, the privacy policies or the content of sites other than our Sites, including any site which is accessible via a link from one of our Sites. You should contact the operators of those sites directly if you wish to enquire about their privacy policies and practices before providing your personal information to them.
10. Children's Privacy
Our service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
11. Changes to Privacy Policy
We may change this Privacy Policy at any time, without notice. You agree that our Privacy Policy’s current version applies to your use of a Site.
